NILDS Breaks Ground For Construction Of Juma’at Mosque At Permanent Site

National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) has taken a significant step towards providing a dedicated place of worship for its staff with the groundbreaking and foundation laying ceremony for a new Juma’at Mosque at the Institute’s permanent site in Lugbe, Abuja.

The ceremony, held on Wednesday, marked the formal commencem ent of construction of the mosque and underscored the Institute’s commitment to staff welfare, spiritual wellbeing and the promotion of strong community values.

Speaking at the event, the Director General of NILDS, Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, expressed appreciation to the management, staff and stakeholders whose support and commitment contributed to the realisation of the long awaited project.

Prof. Sulaiman noted that the provision of a dedicated place of worship forms part of the Institute’s broader commitment to the holistic welfare of its workforce.

He stressed that creating an environment that supports both professional and spiritual wellbeing is important to building a cohesive and productive workforce, adding that infrastructure that promotes faith and community complements NILDS’ position as a centre of academic, legislative and democratic excellence.

The Director General described the foundation-laying ceremony as a testament to the shared values, unity and collective commitment of the Institute’s management and staff to the continued growth and development of NILDS.

He therefore called on staff, stakeholders and well-wishers to support the project and sustain the spirit of unity and cooperation that has contributed to the Institute’s achievements.

The event featured the symbolic laying of the foundation stone by the Director General alongside members of the management team, signalling the official commencement of construction.

The Juma’at Mosque is expected to provide a dedicated worship facility for staff and members of the Institute’s community while further enhancing the communal life and welfare infrastructure at the permanent site.
