National Assembly Delegation Visits Austrian Parliament.

As part of efforts to improve legislative performance and learn from one another, the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, has facilitated a three- day exchange of experience visit to the Austrian Parliament.

According to a statement made available to newsmen, the purpose of the exchange of experience visit is to enable the delegation establish contact and exchange experiences with Austrian Parliamentarians.

Recall that DG,NILDS, Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman had secured the commitment of the Austrian Parliament when he led a delegation of researchers and National Assembly management staff on a study visit to the Austrian Parliament in May.

As part of the three days activities, the delegation led by Senator Simon Mwadkwon, Minority Leader of the Senate, met with with Harald Dossi, Secretary General of the Austrian Parliament and nine other principal officers of the Austrian Parliament.

The Nigerian delegation comprises: Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe,
Chairman, Senate Committee on Power; Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Chairman, Senate Committee on Privatization; other members of the delegation are Hon. Lawan Shettima
Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Speciality Healthcare;
Hon. Emeka Martins, Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Federal Capital Territory; Hon. Lanre Okunlola,
Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Aid, loan & Debt Management, Hon. Shehu Rijau Saleh, Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Science Engineering.

While welcoming the delegation, Mr Dossi assured them that the exchange of experience visit to the Austrian Parliament will indeed give both Parliaments the opportunity to learn from one another.

Speaking earlier, the facilitator of the exchange, Director General of NILDS, Prof. Sulaiman thanked the Austrian Parliament for their commitment and show of partnership throughout the process of organizing the visit with the Institute.

The DG also extended gratitude to the ambassador of the Nigerian Embassy in Austria
